There’s two kinds of waiting.
1. Waiting for something that you know is going to happen.
2. Waiting for something that you’re not sure is ever going to come.
The waiting for something that you know is going to happen can be annoying, like waiting for your morning bus or waiting to catch the subway to work. Sure in the moment, you could be annoyed that you missed the bus by two minutes and you have to wait another 20 minutes, but you know that bus is coming. Another bus will always show up. Waiting for something that you know is coming can also be exciting like waiting for your boyfriend/girlfriend to come over or waiting for your mom to call you to tell you exciting news. This type of waiting is somewhat of a rush. You have this great feeling inside of you, that sometimes the anticipation of waiting is somewhat enjoyable.
Then there is the kind of waiting that you’re not sure is ever going to come; like that message you’re waiting for from the person you like. Waiting for the person who ended things with you to show up at your house and say they made a mistake. Waiting for someone to come back into your life that you know is never going to. This type of waiting makes a fist in your heart. You sit there constantly wondering ‘what if’. This type of waiting can eat away at someone’s soul. This type of waiting consumes your life.
