Dating and Netflix is Basically the Same Thing

It’s Friday night.

You make some popcorn.

You sit down on your couch.

You turn on your TV.

You put Netflix on.

You search for 20+ minutes trying to find the PERFECT movie.nexusae0_device-2014-04-25-111450

You find one.

You watch it for 10+ minutes.

You stop watching it, and go back to the Netflix Search Screen.

You start searching for another movie.

And repeat until you realize it’s time for bed.

This above ^ is exactly how dating is now a days.

No one can settle, because there are so many damn options at our finger tips.

Netflix Canada has 4288 choices

POF has “50,000 new singles per day”

Tinder has 1.4billion swipes per day, 26million matches per day, and 196 countries use it.

I don’t know how many people use Bumble… I googled it. It didn’t say, sorry for the inconvenience.

Anyways, back to my point.

I feel like online dating is pretty much the same thing as finding something to watch on Netflix.

It’s Wednesday night.

You sit down on your couch.

You pick up your phone.

You go to your dating app.

You check your messages.

pof-inbox

You search for 20+ minutes trying to find the PERFECT MAN/WOMAN.

You find one.

You message them and chat for 10 minutes

At this point, it can go one of two ways

  1. You realize you don’t want to peruse anything with them, and start again on your search for love.
  2. You meet them

After meeting them, it goes one of two ways again

  1. You realize you don’t like them, and start again on your search for love
  2. You go out again, date each other, get married, have kids, the end.

Dating, and Netflix are the same.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying online dating is the same for everyone. Some people do meet people, and it lasts, but majority of the time people are constantly looking for something better, and can’t settle for one person. The second something goes wrong, people flee, because they know they can go right back on a dating app and meet someone new.

End of story.
